El cuento como recurso educativo (técnicas narrativas y actividades para el aula)

EL CUENTO: SU VALOR EDUCATIVO

El cuento es un relato breve que puede ser oral o escrito en el que se narra una historia de ficción, fantástica o verosímil. El cuento tiene las siguientes características más significativas.

• Tiene reducido número de personajes.
• Es breve.
• Es un subgénero narrativo.
• Es similar a la novela pero se diferencia en que este es más sintético, tiene una estructura más sencilla y una acción reducida.
• Existen elementos mágicos.

El cuento tiene un gran valor educativo, puesto que este es un gran recurso metodológico en educación infantil, sirve como base de muchas actividades de enseñanza aprendizaje y contribuye al desarrollo de este proceso.
Está presente (...) sobre todo en el área de expresión y comunicación.
A través del cuento se puede desarrollar una amplia gama de objetivos como:

• Fomentar la creatividad del niño.
• Aumentar la expresión oral.
• Crear hábitos de sensibilidad artística mediante imágenes atrayentes.
• Permite comprender los sentimientos de los otros.
• Sirve de aproximación al lenguaje tanto oral como escrito.
• Es el principal motivador para determinados aprendizajes escolares.
• Favorece el desarrollo social en cuanto le permite comprender roles y valores, es un elemento de transmisión de creencias y elementos culturales.

Hay que mencionar que no es solo un recurso de la educación formal sino que es parte también de la educación no formal, (bibliotecas, ludotecas).

TRATAMIENTO DE UN CUENTO: TÉCNICAS DE NARRACIÓN

El interés de los niños por la narración, por el seguimiento de una historia, se empezará a verificar a partir de los dos años. El niño necesita el cuento para conocer hechos reales o fantásticos, para satisfacer su pensamiento mágico simbólico, para revivir y aligerar tensiones y conflictos, para comprender valores y sentimientos de otros.
Pero esto depende del cumplimiento de una serie de condiciones en la narración:
Técnicas de narración: cuando hablamos de técnicas de narración nos referimos a las formas de actuar sistematizadas para contar o relatar un cuento o historia a través de la transmisión oral de la información.
Existen distintas perspectivas:

1. Narración en 3ª persona.
2. Narración en 2ª persona.
3. Como protagonista.
4. Como testigo.

Ahora pasaremos a enumerar una serie de pautas para una buena narración:

• Es necesaria la participación activa de los oyentes.
• Hay que tener en cuenta la edad, el nivel evolutivo o intereses de los niños.
• Debe de existir una planificación previa: leer y escuchar el cuento antes de contarlo, ordenar mentalmente la secuencia y visualizar los personajes.
• Usar las formas verbales.
• Captar el interés. Ejemplo: alterando el orden, unir dos cuentos…
• Se puede seguir un esquema lineal, o no, pero debe haber implicación de todos los personajes y existir un desenlace en el último momento.
• Hay que tener en cuenta la comunicación no verbal y comunicación paraverbal: la voz, la entonación, volumen, timbre, ritmo, gestos.
• Contextualización del cuento: a través de decorados, disfraces.
• Comunicación verbal: debe darse un lenguaje claro, correcto, variado, adaptado, con uso de recursos lingüísticos.
• Es importante la colocación de los oyentes. Ejemplo: en semicírculo, ya que se permite que todos vean al narrador.
• Que el narrador sea animador y motivador, que dé gran credibilidad a lo contado, que lo sienta propio, como si lo estuviera viendo.
• Es importante no repetirse, que exista una variación en el tipo de cuentos.
• La duración no deber sobrepasar los 20 minutos (10-20 minutos), si se observa cansancio, acortar.
• Flexibilidad planificada: puede nacer en cualquier momento. Ejemplo: después del recreo trabajar un cuento más reposado.

Para terminar debemos hablar de las formas de presentar un cuento:

• Técnica directa: narrado leído por el adulto o por los propios niños.
• Técnica indirecta: existen elementos mediadores entre el narrador y el auditorio. Ejemplo: títeres, diapositivas, representación, grabación en video…

ACTIVIDADES A DESARROLLAR A PARTIR DE LOS RECURSOS LITERARIOS

El cuento aparece dentro del marco escolar, como uno de los principales ejes motivadores para realizar actividades:

Actividades de lenguaje:

• Comentar el cuento.
• Analizar el vocabulario que aparece.- Distinguir las acciones que llevan a cabo los personajes.
• Inventar otro cuento con el personaje central.
• Contar cuentos al revés, los personajes buenos se convierten en malos.
• Cuento recreado: que los niños cambien el cuento como ellos quieran.

 Actividades de psicomotricidad:

• Dramatización de determinados personajes.
• Realizar órdenes espaciales que nos dé un personaje del cuento.

Actividades plásticas: 

• Dibujar los personajes del cuento.
• Realizar marionetas sobre el cuento.
• Modelar los personajes con plastilina.
• Mural del cuento.
• Montaje audiovisual, elaboración de diapositivas sencillas.

EL RINCÓN DE LOS LIBROS

El Rincón de expresión es la estrategia pedagógica/recurso metodológico basada en la organización espacial del aula en pequeños grupos cada uno con un espacio delimitado de forma que realicen simultáneamente diferentes actividades.
Esta metodología permite realizar diferentes tipos de actividades de modo simultáneo y permite al niño hacer lo que eligió. Cada zona requiere del espacio, los materiales, y la organización adecuada al tipo de actividad y al niño que accede. Éste va pasando por cada una de ellas mediante el uso de los indicadores o identificadores de zona. Las propuestas de los rincones no son estables para todo el curso. Estas se van modificando en función de las necesidades y los intereses del niño.
Uno de los rincones de expresión que existen en el aula, es el rincón de los libros, este debe ser el centro integrador de otras actividades y situaciones escolares. Este rincón es necesario porque el niño muestra desde muy pequeño un enorme interés en la contemplación de imágenes de los libros.
Las funciones de este rincón son:

• Recreativa
• Formativa
• Como zona de recursos
• De intercambio y préstamo de libros.

Pasaremos ahora a desarrollar las pautas de organización de este rincón:

• Debe existir una gran variedad de libros.
• Para los niños que aún no saben leer debe hacer una gran visibilidad en las portadas.
• Debe situarse y ser un espacio tranquilo, silencioso, cómodo, que tenga colchonetas, alfombra o cojines.
• No debe haber amontonamientos de libros.
• Deben existir una normas de funcionamiento de el rincón, de mantenimiento, de orden, de préstamo a casa, silencio.
• Y el rol del educador debe ser activo.

A Predictable Cycle? an excerpt from the NYT (July 20, 2012)

In the 24 hours following the shooting, many wrote about how Americans have become used to these all-too-frequent tragedies and the cycle of debate and blame that will follow. “Nothing changes,” writesAdam Gopnik in The New Yorker. “It will happen again.” (The satirical newspaper The Onion also echoed this idea.)

In a Times Op-Ed piece, “We’ve Seen This Movie Before,”Roger Ebert writes:

Should this young man  have been able to buy guns, ammunition and explosives? The gun lobby will say yes. And the endless gun control debate will begin again, and the lobbyists of the National Rifle Association will go to work, and the op-ed thinkers will have their usual thoughts, and the right wing will issue alarms, and nothing will change. And there will be another mass murder.

Do you agree? Will “nothing change?” Have we “seen this movie before”? What, in your opinion, could change this cycle? What do you think of Op-Ed columnist Gail Collins’s statement that, as with women’s suffrage in the early 1900’s and civil rights activism in the 1950’s, “nothing will change unless the people decide to do the leading”?
